主人是位布衣老者，指尖捻起茶匙的动作轻如拂尘。他总说茶有性情，需知时节、懂水土，更要惜缘。案上的茶器各有故事：粗陶盖碗来自景德镇的老匠人，青瓷公道杯是旅途中偶然所得，连竹制茶则都透着经年摩挲的温润。

　　下半月的清晨，月亮依然挂在天空，只是它往往西移到了马鞍山的背后，再迟一点，就到了鹰嘴岩顶上。太阳出来了，月亮还挂在天空。父亲的身影出现在晨晖中的时候，他至少已经铲完了一根田坎。而他一到田边，则是先看一看秧田里水的深浅，伸出指头试一试水温，抬头向天空了望一阵子，然后将盖秧苗的塑料篷的两头敞开。父亲铲田坎用的那柄锄，年龄比他还大，锄把光滑闪亮，比用丝绸打磨过的竹器还要细腻。祖父说锄柄是枇杷树的，是他亲手从石千担下边的悬崖上砍回来的。锄磨损成月牙形了，再才拿到铁匠铺去背一下，继续使用。一般来说，祖父去背锄头只在一固定的地方进行，后来就是父亲去。我记得有一次和他一同去，父亲回来的时候对我说，他不想让我从他手里再接过那柄锄头，我当时认为父亲既然宝贝那柄锄，当然不愿交给我和姐姐使用。我上高中的时候，有一次回家，一天便挖断一柄锄，震断一柄斧子和一把柴刀，母亲将我狠狠地骂了一顿，父亲却说：旧的不去，新的不来。那柄锄我只使用过几次，轻巧而锋利，不用使重力便能铲断指拇粗的树根。当然，田坎上只有草根，鲜有树根。父亲铲田坎的时候，很少伸直腰，他一次次将锄抬起，向前伸出，再斜向后用力拉动。他有时左手上前，有时右手上前，这样换手，就降低了疲劳，延长了劳动时间。
